Benzodiazepines and Addiction Help

Benzodiazepines AddictionMany people may falsely assume that addiction cannot happen to them. They do not abuse prescriptions drugs, use illegal or street drugs and follow their physician’s orders when taking medications; this does not mean that the person will not become addicted. Popularly prescribed benzodiazepines, “benzo’s” used to relieve anxiety and calm the nerves, such as Valium, Ativan and Xanax can easily become habit forming. There is no reason for you or a friend/family member to suffer through addiction, when recovery is achievable. With the right treatment, an addict can be on their way to regaining their life drug free.

Benzodiazepines Addiction Recovery and Relapse

If you were to survey a large number of recovering addicts, the majority of them would be able share the story of at least one relapse. This does not mean that future efforts will be in vain though. Even if the person has suffered a relapse before, this does not mean that they will not be successful in this uphill battle. Rather than looking at this as a failure or a sign of weakness, experts agree it is more of a learning experience. Statistics indicate that in order to remain clean or sober, the person must have the right tools necessary. This includes undergoing treatment that is right for the person, getting needed support and even psychological counseling. Relapsing does not mean a “Lack of Commitment” but instead the chance to regroup and change the treatment environment.
