Addicted to Barbiturates

Barbiturates are often used as a sedative or under supervision of a doctor. Being Addicted to Barbiturates is a serious situation. Barbiturates, if abused have been the cause of many untimely deaths. The most Commonly abused Barbiturates are Nembutal, Phenobarbital, Seconal, and Amytal. Most addicts take barbiturates for a sense or euphoria, numbness, or to be rendered unconscious. This ultimate goal for the people addicted to barbiturates is what eventually will cause their demise. Barbiturates lower your heart rate and cause the user to feel lethargic. Symptoms of someone addicted to barbiturates include: sleeping during all hours of the day, inability to sleep when not on barbiturates, slurred speech, & uncoordinated movements. Many of the addicted will ingest too much of the barbiturates and never wake up. The route of administration is varied and those administering the barbiturate intravenously are even more at risk. If someone is addicted to barbiturates they should seek help immediately. Medical help is necessary since withdrawal symptoms may include seizures and instability. In patient treatment is highly recommended to those struggling with addiction to barbiturates. The only cure for this addiction is complete abstinence. Unfortunately more and more people are becoming addicted to barbiturates every day. Fortunately for the addicted options for help are broad and available.
